About the tool

The Checklist of Sustainability Qualifying Criteria is an excel based evaluation tool. The Checklist should be used to evaluate whether the developed Circular Economy (CE) business model choices have the potential to contribute to the wider scope of sustainability. Through qualitative criteria, you can check whether and how well the choices or elements of your Circular Economy business model concept/configuration contribute to economic, environmental and social aspects.

The Checklist can be used for three different purposes:

  • To analyse a single CE business model concept to improve and refine its design according to sustainability principles
  • To compare a single CE business model concept to a baseline example (linear model) and identify whether improvements were positive from a sustainability perspective
  • To compare alternative CEĀ  business model concepts and select the best solution from a sustainability perspective.

For more information about how the tool was developed, read this article.
