Bang & Olufsen is a Danish producer of high‐end consumer electronics. B&O’s core products are designed and produced for a long lifespan, without losing quality. Furthermore, B&O’s products offer a timeless design to mitigate the risk of perceived obsolescence and proactively integrate serviceability into the design process. Creating long-lasting products is an integrated part of the Circular Economy, as it prevents purchases of new products and minimises the use of resources. B&O is proactive in setting environmental requirements for its products and is currently working on multiple initiatives to further improve their circularity. With the use of new design principles, they are exploring the possibilities of improving the serviceability of products even further to maximize product longevity in a fast-moving consumer electronics industry. In addition, they have initiated an exploration study regarding reverse logistics and take-back schemes enabling refurbishment, remanufacturing and reuse of products.
