Globe Hope designs and produces a range of products from recycled and discarded materials, through cascaded-use, otherwise known as ‘upcycling.’
Based just outside of Helsinki, Finland, Globe Hope transforms raw materials – such as army surplus, vintage clothing, sails, advertisement banners, seat belts, and used work wear – into items like bags, clip purses, vests, backpacks, and jewelry. Often the products are made from 100% recycled materials, and sometimes they are complemented by virgin organic cotton and peat. For the upcycling approach, otherwise known as ‘cascaded-use’, the company sources materials primarily from Finland, but also from Sweden and Central Europe. The majority of the range is produced using subcontractors in Finland and Estonia, creating employment in the region. Using secondary materials makes all items include interesting and surprising details related to their history, meaning that all products are one-of-a-kind.
